Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of First100Readers ("the platform", "we", "us"), operated by Laximus Business Ventures Private Limited at first100readers.com. By creating an account or using the platform you agree to these Terms.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a contract to use the platform. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.

2. Account types

• Reader: can browse books, apply for reader screening, claim published books, download watermarked review copies, submit honest reviews, and earn rupee rewards to a wallet which can be withdrawn to a bank or UPI account after admin approval.
• Author: can create an author profile, upload books (cover, manuscript, and copy), fund a wallet in Indian Rupees, allocate credits to a book to open reviewer slots, and track incoming reviews and campaign performance.
• Administrator: reviews reader applications, moderates submitted reviews, approves reader payouts, and enforces these Terms. Administrator accounts can only be granted by another administrator.

You may not create more than one account or use another person's identity to sign up. Author accounts can additionally opt in to reviewing other authors' books, but never their own.

3. Review process and honesty

Reviews on the platform must reflect the reader's genuine, honest opinion of the book after actually reading it. The rupee reward paid on approval is compensation for the reader's time, not for a positive review. Specifically:

• Payment is not conditional on a minimum star rating.
• Fabricated reviews, reviews written without reading the book, reviews copied from elsewhere, or reviews traded/coordinated with other users are prohibited.
• Administrators may reject reviews that appear fake, low-effort, incentivised, or that violate these Terms. Rejected reviews are not paid.
• Repeated violations, coordinated fraud, or attempted self-reviews may result in suspension or permanent termination of the account and forfeiture of any pending unpaid rewards.

4. Amazon reviews are optional

After submitting a review on the platform, readers may optionally also post an honest review on Amazon or on their own social channels. Amazon reviews are always voluntary, are never a condition for platform payment, and are never separately rewarded. The platform review and any external Amazon review are treated entirely separately.

5. Author wallet and credit system

• Authors fund a wallet in Indian Rupees using Razorpay. Recharge amounts must fall within the limits shown in the recharge screen.
• Wallet balance is used to allocate credits to a specific book. Each credit funds one reviewer slot at that book's per-review price.
• When a reader claims a book, one credit is reserved. When the reader's review is approved, the credit is consumed and a payout is credited to the reader's wallet. If the claim is cancelled or the review is rejected, the reserved credit is released back to the book's available pool by an administrator.
• Once wallet funds are allocated to a book, they become committed to that campaign and are non-refundable, subject to the Refund Policy.

6. First 100 Readers cap

Every book listing on the platform is capped at a maximum of 100 approved reviews. When a book reaches this cap, no further claims are accepted and any remaining unconsumed credits allocated to that book are automatically returned to the author's wallet balance.

7. Content and intellectual property

Authors retain all rights in the books they upload. By uploading a manuscript, cover, and copy, the author grants First100Readers a non-exclusive licence to display cover art and description on the platform, to generate watermarked review copies stamped with the claiming reader's identifier, and to distribute those copies to approved readers for the sole purpose of reviewing. Readers may not redistribute, resell, upload, or share review copies with any third party. Doing so is a material breach of these Terms and may result in account termination and legal action.

8. Payments and taxes

Payments are processed by Razorpay under their own terms. Readers are responsible for any tax obligations arising from rewards earned on the platform.

9. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate any account, with or without notice, for violations of these Terms including but not limited to: fabricated or coordinated reviews, self-reviews, multiple accounts, sharing or redistributing review copies, fraudulent payment activity, harassment of other users or staff, or attempts to abuse the referral or leaderboard systems. On termination, unpaid rewards from rejected or fraudulent reviews are forfeited; unallocated wallet balances remain refundable subject to the Refund Policy.

10. Platform availability

We aim to keep the platform available and accurate, but we provide it on an "as is" basis without warranty of any kind. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the platform, to the extent permitted by law.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date will reflect the most recent change. Continued use of the platform after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Gurgaon, Haryana.
